Girls’ Basketball Defeats West Genesee 49-42
After a rocky start to the January 12 home game against West Genesee, the Lady Warriors responded with a well-earned win.
The Warriors came out of a losing 1st quarter to shut the West Genesee offense to a total of 16 points in two quarters. Talk about defense! They dominated the West Genny girls on the glass.
Liverpool would help their defense by outscoring West Genesee by a total of 26-16 in those two quarters. Though Liverpool had only two three pointers by junior guards Ally Zywicki and Nina Tassone, they knew how to get the offense rebounds and to score enough two-pointers to gain a advantage.
Leading the team through the comeback were junior point guard Ally Zywicki and forward Lyteshia Price. Both girls finshed the game with 17 points.
Liverpool would later pull out the “W.” The final score was 49-42, improving the Lady Warriors’ record to 4-5 and handing West Genny their seventh loss of the season. The girls play again on this Friday at Utica Proctor.
