Andrew Cuomo Visits LHS

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo held a press conference on Tuesday, February 2 to promote his e-STOP legislation, which provides a list of convicted sex offenders against which private websites –  especially social networking websites – can check their user databases to protect children from online predators.

Inexplicably, the student media were not allowed to present questions to the Attorney General, and the professional media focused almost solely on Cuomo’s rumored gubernatorial bid, which Cuomo denies to this day. Cuomo strongly claimed that he is focused on serving the people in his current position, and refused to comment further on the possibility of his candidacy until election season begins in November.

Embedded is Cuomo’s argument for e-STOP, edited for time only.
