Grade Stressin’
As it gets further into the school year, it seems that some students have been checking their grades on “My Gradebook” just as frequent as their Facebook accounts. Senior Leanne Sampson describes her senior year as a pyramid of unsteady things. “There’s good grades, enough sleep, and social life. It’s like you can only have two, but have to go without the other.” says Sampson. Perhaps the reason kids are so active on My Gradebook is because they’re in the “enough sleep” and “good grades” side of the triangle. So what separates the easy classes from the difficult ones? Senior Brianna Becker says she’s frequently checking her grades for her grades in economics and math, but is less concerned with her creative writing and concert ensemble grades. “It’s hard because some teachers don’t update their grades as much as others. So I’m constantly bothering them about what my grade is in their class.” says Becker.
Julia Ryan states that “[She] just checked her My Gradebook, for the first time.” With the second semester’s 5 week reports being sent home soon, it seems that some people have never been so stressed to have the perfect set of grades. Seniors are especially worried this time of year according to senior Rachel Moskal. Moskal felt the need to be on top of her grades so she could get accepted by her prime choice for college.
Our futures are dependent on are grades for these last few weeks, especially for seniors, so stepping up our game and constantly checking Mygradebook is important.
