From varsity baseball coach to business teacher to Learning Center extraordinaire, Fred Terzini does it all.
Terzini, an alumnus of Liverpool High School and Le Moyne College, majored in business. He moved to Chicago, then returned to Liverpool to become a baseball coach.
Terzini said that when someone becomes a coach they normally are a teacher at first. However, Mr. Terzini did it in reverse. He has been coaching for eighteen years and teaching for twelve.
After coaching for a few years Terzini became a business teacher. When the business program rates dropped the need for business teachers declined. Terzini was given the opportunity to teach at a much more personal level as a learning center teacher.
The atmosphere in a full classroom compared to one on one time with a student is a drastic change. Nevertheless, Mr. Terzini can handle it all.
“Your feet are never in cement here,” said Terzini, comparing his time in the learning center to his time as a business teacher.
Aside from being a teacher, Fred Terzini enjoys being a coach on the baseball varsity team. He said that there’s so many favorite memories from being the head coach from all the years of being with the team.
“Interactions with kids not only on the field but in the classroom [is important]” said Terzini.
Terzini enjoys being a teacher as much as his students enjoy his teaching.
“I feel that he’s a good teacher, and that he really help you understand the information” said sophomore Nicole Finger, a student of Terzini.
Mr. Terzini’s career changes continue as he switches courses from Business to Learning Center and back to Business while department head Karen Pauly is out on medical leave.
